Give us a brief overview of your organisation.
With a no-code platform developed over the course of 20 years, Excelpoint is established as a key player in the business process automation sector enabling business users to build, deploy and maintain enterprise-wide systems.
Our no-code platform enables customers to take control of their digital landscape, rapidly deploying internal and external-facing solutions to maximise resources and improve efficiency.
We are different because our no-code platform spans organisational-wide operations. We do not offer a specific solution but consider business-critical challenges faced by any organisation.
We configure and deploy solutions tailored to exact requirements to replace manual, paper, spreadsheet or legacy-based processes with efficient automated solutions integrated into your technology landscape. We do this within a few weeks or months, delivering customer-specific systems without writing a single line of code.
What are the benefits of basing your business in the North East?
Established in the North East over 20 years ago, Excelpoint remains a North East business based within The Work Place on Aycliffe Business Park.
Although it has an international customer base, its success in the North East has grown considerably in recent years.
It has mainly been down to the opportunities and initiatives available in the region to stimulate and support growth.
Excelpoint has enjoyed and benefited from membership and involvement with many regional organisations and initiatives including, NOF, NEECC, EMN, Digital Drive, FSB, Aycliffe Business Park, regional business clubs, Made Smarter and Dynamo itself. All of these have provided invaluable support and opportunities for growth.
The region has also provided us with a wealth of skill sets from developers, consultants, marketeers, and business development individuals, all of whom contribute to the success of the business.
To give back to the region, we liaise with North East-based educational establishments to offer work placements, visits and apprenticeship opportunities. In late 2021, we launched an initiative to work with regional educational establishments by visiting students to present to them about career opportunities within the tech sector. We aim to inspire a future workforce and retain talent in the North East of England.
What have the past 2 years taught you?
The past two years presented Excelpoint with a number of new challenges and opportunities.
It confirmed our belief in the power of embracing flexible and agile processes. As the realisation of a pandemic approached, we immediately briefed staff and implemented a working-from-home policy. The nature of the business allowed this transition to take place seamlessly, with staff setting up home-based working that afternoon.
We supported our customers by making business processes available to remote workers – achieving this at speed and cost-effectively, ensuring systems enabled staff to carry out day-to-day tasks and remain productive regardless of location.
We supported frontline public sector and commercial organisations, and charities, to adapt to new challenges, rapidly developing and implementing new solutions to emerging problems.
We learned that as a business, we quickly adapted to a new way of working, enabling us to continue to lead in the level of service and product offering for our customers, which is a testament to the Excelpoint team and our technology.
The last two years have highlighted to all organisations the importance of embracing a digital way of working. Our no-code platform has brought together people, customers, and supply chains to deliver efficiencies and improved experiences.
What are your business objectives for the next 12 months?
Our objective is rapid growth via our three key routes to market – direct sales, partnerships, and strategic customers. We are also planning for further international expansion, building on existing relationships and new markets.
Innovation drives us. Our no-code technology continues to evolve. We will soon announce new functionality and tools to significantly improve scalability enabling thousands of users whilst enhancing the user and customer experience.
Our people are key to our success. We are creating a workplace environment with a culture based on responsibility, accountability, personal growth, excellence, respect, and well-being.
We are passionate about building a high-tech software business competing on a global level while offering our employees the opportunity to develop a challenging and rewarding career within a positive and happy environment.
What are your hopes for the future of the North East’s tech and digital industry?
The North East is a vibrant and flourishing business landscape supported by a wealth of talent. Our hope for the North East tech sector is that we retain talent, and nurture and develop it to create our future tech champions. Only by doing so will we enable the sector to flourish and lead the way on a worldwide stage.
The increased profile of the sector through initiatives such as Dynamo North East will create a powerful and attractive tech hub attracting businesses, investment and talent to the region. It will contribute towards the levelling up of the North East and establish it as a recognised tech and digital innovation region.
Why did you join Dynamo?
Our vision and values align with Dynamo. We are passionate about creating and retaining talent in the region.
Membership enables Excelpoint to network with peers and to meet leaders in innovation within our region.
It also presents us with the opportunity to tell our story and promote the benefits of no-code as a solution for business system development, whilst member collaboration presents the opportunity to form strategic partnerships to add value to our customers.
Ian Brown, CEO at Excelpoint, commented: “Our no-code software competes at a global level for depth and functionality, meets the requirements of SMEs to large corporate organisations with a global footprint, and delivers measurable ROI, benefits, and rewards.”
