Operating in the global no-code business-process automation sector, we have built our success and reputation working in partnership with our customers to identify business-critical challenges and address them with our no-code software configuring and deploying scalable solutions to create automated business processes and workflows.
In our world, our people are the most important part of our business as they contribute to our success and the implementation of successful projects to enable customer experience excellence. We have created a culture based on responsibility, personal growth, excellence, respect, and well-being. We value and nurture the talent of our workforce and are passionate about attracting new talent into the sector.
One area where we focus this strategy is in the employment of apprenticeships where we can nurture talent through the organisation enabling individuals to learn as they earn and enjoy a challenging and rewards career within Excelpoint.
Our apprentices are not only learning as part of their chosen course – they are learning within the workplace, gaining essential skills, including technical skills, communication, and confidence, and forming relationships with co-workers who can offer their knowledge and experience to help them in their careers.
At Excelpoint, we 100% believe that an apprenticeship is a successful way for employers to grow talent and develop a motivated, skilled, and qualified workforce.
Excelpoint is proud to be able to give young people looking to start their careers within the tech sector the opportunity in the form of an apprenticeship. Currently, we employ two apprentices, Lee Dodgson Apprentice Business Consultant, and Charlie Auld, Apprentice Software Support Technician. Charlie and Lee are close to successfully finishing their apprenticeships, and we are currently employing two new technical apprenticeships.
We asked Lee and Charlie to answer some questions regarding apprenticeships, and this is what they had to say:
Why did you choose an apprenticeship within the software sector?
Lee – “My interests have always lied within IT. I enjoyed studying IT at school and college, so I knew I wanted to chase a career in the industry. After spending some time studying cybersecurity, it confirmed it was the right career choice for me. After looking at what was available in an apprenticeship (working environment, improving a skill set, and gaining work experience), I decided to pursue the opportunities an apprenticeship had to offer.”
Charlie added – “I also have always had a keen interest in IT since school. The industry is growing year after year, so I took the opportunity to pursue a career in tech. While looking at my options, I quickly realised that an apprenticeship was the best way forward, enabling me to gain experience, learn, and earn all at the same time!”
What are the advantages of an apprenticeship?
Charlie – “The ability to earn a wage while gaining real-world experience within a company can’t be achieved in a classroom. When I complete my apprenticeship, not only will I gain a Level 3 qualification, I will have earned a place within Excelpoint, learned about its no-code product, built up communication skills and confidence, and developed many other skills from my experience within a professional business environment”.
Lee added – “I agree with Charlie. With an apprenticeship, you combine your learning with working on the job. Getting paid as you learn is a benefit, but importantly, instead of learning in a classroom, an apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to gain real-world experience, building relationships with co-workers, managers, business owners, and customers, which you cannot experience in the classroom. I believe it will be the most beneficial factor for my career moving forward.”
How will the apprenticeship aid you in your future career?
Lee – “My apprenticeship will help me become a valuable member of the Excelpoint team faster by learning on the job”.
“With the head start my apprenticeship has given me, I look forward to finishing my apprenticeship and growing into a key member of the Excelpoint Consultancy Team and hope to have the opportunity to grow within the business to achieve my career aspirations for the future.”
Charlie added – “As with many opportunities, it can be difficult to secure a role in the tech sector without any experience. My apprenticeship has enabled me to access the sector from the ground up and is providing me with a great start and future career opportunities. Within Excelpoint, I am working alongside past apprentices who are now key members of the team. It’s enabling me to learn on the job and hopefully enjoy a successful career within Excelpoint.”
Would you recommend an apprenticeship to someone?
Charlie – “100%, an apprenticeship is a great way to start a career in tech. I’m gaining great experience and learning skills quickly, all while I earn a wage. I have already gained the skills to be customer-facing, dealing with customers over the telephone, via email, and in person. These skills are helping me to establish myself as an important part of Excelpoint’s growth and are allowing me to grow within the company.”
Lee added – “I fully support Charlie’s comments. I would recommend an apprenticeship. We are growing within our roles day by day. The opportunities it presents are beyond any classroom learning. Standing up twice a week in team meetings to discuss our work makes up feel a core part of the business and proud of what we have achieved so quickly in our time at Excelpoint.”
